I am working on several different web projects. I tend to focus on business telecom and related industries. I brainstorm various ideas and then research and implement them as web sites. My main areas of expertise are creating content and marketing. I don't really "design"- I have very limited html, css, and php knowledge. I rely on a lot of WYISWYG, blog platforms and templates, copy and paste, etc. I try to create pages that are simple and relevant. I currently have over 300 ideas in various stages of development. I also run a few small businesses with physical product. Here are just a few samples. DiscountT1.com- T1 Lines This is a site that uses the GeoQuote t1 line quoting system provided by Telarus. As an agent I incorporate the quote system in my site and send leads to product specialists. The design template is provided by Telarus and ShopforT1. However, I have fully customized the text content of the site as well as metas, titles, linking strategy, etc. I started this site in 2004. I have sold T1 services to many small businesses, including a few well- known names. In addition to these sales, many companies of all sizes have used my site for quotes, those with monthly spends from $80 to $80,000,000. I think it's pretty cool that a very huge company that I used to subscribe to stopped by for a quote and had discussions about our services. Unfortunately there was no sale.
CellPlanUpgrade.com- Cell Phone Upgrades
Among the first products I tried to market online were wireless phones. I belonged to an agent program that happened to offer nice compensation and good tools for selling online. I was not too successful at developing very broad cell phone sites. At some point around the summer of 2006, I noticed that I was doing better in some niches than others and that many related niches were basically "wide open"- no one was paying much attention, let alone dominating these niches. I have identified approximately 55 viable niches and sub-niches in the wireless phone industry. These are areas where almost no one is making an effort to market, yet they are potentially lucrative and scaleable. I find very few consumers do not already have a cell phone. I made this site to target those consumers with existing phones and contracts looking to find a good deal on a new phone or change a plan without changing carriers.
DelmarvaBooks.com and ReferenceGuideBooks.com- Collector Price Books and Antique Reference Guides
This is the only physical product that I handle. I sell books online- mostly through eBay. I have done some selling on Amazon and have ideas about building out other options. However, I have mostly just sold through eBay and similar sites. The domains for these aren't really developed. One just redirects to eBay Store and others need a lot of work. I have a "Love/Hate" relationship with the book sales. I would really like to get out of physical sales and only do affiliates sales and agent leads. However, when my other projects are going slow it is very convenient to sell more books for cash flow.
My first website: DelmarvaDiscounts.com - Discount Long Distance
This site is pretty much obsolete/abandoned at this time. It needs a lot of work- which I might do when I have some time-but is not a priority. I will keep it because it was the first site I really owned and tried to market, and the old domain might come in handy for something. The entire site was done by the affiliate company and hosting company that sold it as a package. It had very limited customization. It stopped being updated by them and the hosting was unreliable. I made this site 2-3 years too late and I really don't like my domain choice here. I was thinking regional and broad, while it would have been better going for generic and targeted. It was built around agent programs for 1plus long distance, dialup internet, and web services- all things that are pretty much obsolete or now have better options. Back then offering 3.9 cent long distance was quite a deal.
Other projects: If I am "known" for anything- it is discussing my thoughts on social anxiety disorder and my pursuits to make a living while being pretty much shutout from conventional educational and career paths.
